Fraudulent Phone Calls

Scam Alert- recent reports have indicated that EBT scammers are now leaving messages identifying themselves as the Department of Social Services and using a line that is being answered by live people, who may also be representing themselves as social services staff.

This is a scam; citizens should not engage with those calls or provide any personal information. The caller identifies themselves as a DSS employee and asks for the person’s personal information. DSS employees do not contact citizens by telephone for customer-service purposes.  These calls are fraudulent, and you should just hang up.

If you receive a suspicious call from someone alleging to be from DSS, please report it to your local EBT office.
