Independent Living Program

What is Independent Living?

The Independent Living Program (ILP) assists current and former foster youth aged 15-21 to develop independent living skills and achieve educational/vocational goals to successfully transition to self-sufficiency. The program offers a variety of services covering a wide range of life skill topics, including:

  • Budget/money management
  • Self-esteem
  • Education
  • Financial Aid
  • Decision making
  • Healthy relationships and lifestyles
  • Housing
  • Employment
  • Health and nutrition

The Human Services Department works in collaboration with the Santa Cruz Community Counseling Center to provide Independent Living Program services to foster youth in Santa Cruz County.
